Robert Griffin III invited to Team USA flag football camp
Former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III has received an invitation to Team USA flag football training games as the team prepares for the International Federation of American Football World Championships. The one-time Pro Bowler, who played eight seasons with the Washington Redskins, Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens, now targets a spot on the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics roster. Flag football debuts as an Olympic sport that year.
Griffin, currently an ESPN college football and NFL analyst, joins the training camps scheduled for April 16-19 and May 21-24. He told TMZ Sports that making the Olympic team represents the ultimate goal. "That is the goal, and we’ve already taken the first step in that process," Griffin said.
Team USA remains undefeated since quarterback Darrell Doucette III joined and holds the title of five-time reigning IFAF world champions. Doucette led the squad to victories in the Fanatics Flag Football Classic against NFL players. Griffin aims to contribute to that record while pursuing gold in 2028.
Following the second training camp, a selection committee will reduce the roster from 24 to 18 players for a June camp, then select the final 12 for the 2026 IFAF World Championships in Germany from August 13-16. Griffin emphasized respecting the process and the flag football community along the way.
