Construction of the Athletics' domed stadium on the Las Vegas Strip is progressing on schedule for a 2028 opening. The lower bowl and lower-suite level are taking shape, with buttress work completed and upper-deck erection under way since April. Officials from the club and Mortenson-McCarthy presented the update at the Las Vegas Stadium Authority meeting.

The 33,000-seat facility forms part of a larger mixed-use development that includes a hotel-casino, restaurants, retail and a theater. A southeast parking garage will open in phases, beginning with 1,500 spaces. Bally's Corp. has not yet secured financing for an elevated plaza on the northwest side, prompting the Athletics to prepare temporary plaza plans that would be ready for the first pitch in 2028.

Club president Marc Badain reported that the initial suite offerings sold out and 80 percent of season-ticket packages for the Athletic Club seats behind home plate have been purchased. The team conducted 85 hours of focus-group research with 120 local residents and will release general-public ticket sales in the coming months.

The Athletics are completing their second of three seasons at a Triple-A ballpark in West Sacramento before relocating to Las Vegas. They will play six regular-season games at Las Vegas Ballpark in June. The next Stadium Authority meeting is scheduled for August 20.
